Jess Westermann (Program Director)

Jess Westermann has dedicated the majority of her career in education to developing teachers. As a senior director at SEN, she designed and led the Education Achievement Authority (EAA) of Michigan’s Lead and Master Teacher Development program, for which she trained promising educators across districts in classroom and instructional leadership best practices. Before joining SEN, Jess served as a school-based instructional coach, English department leader, new-teacher mentor, adjunct literacy professor at the Hunter College School of Education, and high school English teacher in New York City. As senior director of the New York City Department of Education’s (NYCDOE) New Schools Intensive, she led the program that trained 77 principals chosen to design and lead new schools throughout the city. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in teaching English from Brown University.
