Adrian Hernandez (Program Director)

Adrian Hernandez is a first-generation college graduate dedicated to educational equity and increasing college access for underserved children. For the past 12 years, he has worked with PK-12 students and college undergraduates across Texas. As a high school US History teacher in the Rio Grande Valley, his students led the district in AP and End of Course exam passing rates. Later, he coached and mentored first-generation undergraduates as a college persistence advisor before successfully completing a principal residency program to launch a school in his native El Paso, TX. In 2018, his team opened doors to a college preparatory and quickly became a Top 5 middle school in the region while serving a majority economically disadvantaged student population. During the 21-22 school year, he led programming and coaching for 13 first-year principals across Texas, where 92% earned an A or B rating from TEA. Adrian earned a bachelor’s degree in Government and Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Policy, Organizational Leadership Studies from Stanford Graduate School of Education.
