School Empowerment Network (“SEN,” “we,” “us”) is a nonprofit organization that partners with school districts on leadership development, school quality reviews, instruction, and school design. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit schoolempowermentnetwork.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to us at sen@schoolempowermentnetwork.org and we will give you a straight answer.
Information you give us
If you contact us through our website forms (for example, the Partner With Us form), we receive what you submit: typically your name, email address, organization, and message. We use it to respond to you and, where appropriate, to continue a professional conversation. Form submissions are delivered to us by email and stored in our website’s form records.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use analytics tools to understand how our site is used, so we can improve it and understand the reach of our work.
Google Analytics (GA4). Collects information about your visit, such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, how far you scroll, links you click, files you download, your approximate location (city level), and the type of device and browser you use. Google Analytics uses cookies to recognize repeat visits. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Microsoft Clarity. Records how visitors interact with our pages and produces heatmaps and session replays that show us how our pages are actually read and used. These recordings capture on-page behavior; they do not capture anything you type into password fields, and we do not use them for advertising. Learn more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Security and infrastructure. Our contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which collects device and interaction data to distinguish people from automated bots; its use is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and requested pages) for security and operations.
Links in emails we send
When we share our publications by email, for example our annual report, the links we send may be shortened (through Bitly or our senlinks.org short-link service) and may include a unique identifier. If you visit through such a link, we can see that the visit came from the email we sent you and how the page was used during that visit, including in the analytics tools described above. We use this to understand which of our materials resonate with the people and organizations we work with, not for advertising, and never to sell or share your information. If you would prefer we not use personalized links with you, reply to any email from us or write to sen@schoolempowermentnetwork.org and we will honor that.
How we use information
We use the information described above to operate and improve our website, to understand the reach and readership of our publications, to respond to inquiries, to protect the site from abuse, and to maintain relationships with the schools, districts, funders, and partners we work with. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing, and our website carries no advertising.
Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Most browsers also offer private-browsing modes and tracker-blocking settings that limit the analytics described here.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained according to each tool’s settings; Clarity session recordings, for example, are kept by Microsoft for roughly 30 days. Form submissions and email correspondence are kept as long as needed for the purpose you contacted us about, and for our ordinary record-keeping.
Children
Our website is intended for education professionals and partners, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Wherever you live, you can simply ask: write to sen@schoolempowermentnetwork.org and we will tell you what we have and honor reasonable requests to correct or delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes to how we collect or use information will be reflected here before they take effect.
