Rachel Hunt (Principal Coach)

Rachel Hunt helped design and launch School Empowerment Network’s New School Design Fellowship where she now coaches leaders who are creating innovative new schools within Texas districts. She began her career in education as a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse in the mountains of Costa Rica. She went on to teach in a large public middle school in Salem, Massachusetts, a district performing in the lowest 10th percentile of the state, before joining the Building Excellent Schools Fellowship. In 2004, she founded and led a diverse, top-ranking, 6-12 charter school in Salem. There, she pioneered a charter-district collaboration and was ultimately elected to serve on the city’s school committee which led the district’s transformation efforts. After ten years as a school leader, Rachel joined the MA state department of education as a consultant focused on building the leadership capacity of underperforming districts. Rachel moved to Los Angeles in 2016 and enjoys exploring the diversity and sunshine of Southern CA with her husband and children.
