Freddy Gonzalez (Principal Coach)

Freddy Gonzalez is a proud first-generation college graduate who lives in Austin, TX and has been an educator since 2003. He’s worked as a teacher, principal, system leader, coach, and consultant. Most recently, he was the Head of Institute at Transcend, where led the development of education innovators across the country. Prior to this work, he spent over 17 years at KIPP Public Schools. As the Chief Academic and Talent Systems Officer, he helped open 100+ new schools, supported the development of 1,100+ leaders, and launched several academic priorities. During each of his seven years as a principal in Texas, the school earned “Recognized” or “Exemplary” accountability ratings from the state. Freddy currently serves on a few education-focused boards. He earned his master’s degree from New York University and his bachelor’s degree from Brown University. Outside of work, he enjoys being a tío, watching sports, and going to the theatre.
